I'd been looking for a decent straight mic stand for a while and when this one arrived I was keen to get it our of the box and give it a bit of a test. It's a fairly standard model, with the height adjustable by a screwing grip. This grip was made from nicely moulded rubber and screwed up nice and tightly for good solid, sturdy positioning of the mic. The only thing that I couldn't get to grips with was the base. It's a nice heavy cast iron base which provides a solid grounding for the stand. The only thing was, if I'd tightened up the twist-grip for the high adjuster too much I found that, while loosening it, I often partially unscrewed the pole from the base, this was very frustrating. For the purpose, this was a good buy at a good price but, if like me, you tend to reposition your mic a lot while you're on stage, you're better off going for the next model up with single hand repositioning, otherwise you'll find yourself constantly screwing the stand back into the base.
